Jody Mcleod
Vice President of Dining Services
Sitting on the kitchen counter covered in towels and helping his dad hand-crush tomatoes while constantly asking “why are you doing that?” is one of the first memories of fourth-generation chef, Jody McLeod. That curiosity and passion for food became the foundation of a distinguished career defined by innovation, tradition, and a guest-first philosophy.
Jody began his professional journey with a classical Canadian apprenticeship, working in a variety of restaurants and hotels where he gained experience across diverse cuisines. Inspired by Canada’s culinary tapestry and eager to expand his horizons, he accepted an opportunity to work in Beijing, China, as Executive Chef of the SciTech Hotel. Two years later, he joined Holland America Line, where he received his European Chef’s accreditation and helped launch groundbreaking shipboard partnerships with Le Cirque of New York City and the Dutch De Librije as well as HAL’s Celebrity Chef program. On three World Voyages and five Grand Voyages, he immersed himself in global flavors, beginning to shape his signature style of world cuisine fused with the Pacific Northwest.
His career continued to accelerate as he returned to Vancouver to serve as Corporate Chef for a multinational casino corporation. When Vancouver won the bid for the 2010 Winter Olympics, Jody was selected as Executive Chef to oversee all culinary operations, collaborating with both the International Olympic Committee and the Vancouver Winter Olympic Committee. Following the games, he returned to Holland America Line for two more years before settling down with his wife and finding his “roots” in the USA, where he developed culinary programs as the corporate chef for SeaWorld Corp and Duke University.
Today, Chef McLeod is a visionary leader redefining dining in senior living and the hospitality industry. As Division Vice President of Culinary at Discovery Management Group, he blends decades of global expertise with a passion for creating elevated, personalized dining experiences. His programs embrace fresh, locally sourced ingredients, wellness-driven menus, and specialty dining initiatives that rival high-end hospitality standards.
Chef McLeod’s leadership goes far beyond the kitchen. He is a mentor and collaborator, building strong culinary teams while partnering with residents, families, and community teams to design programs that honor cultural traditions, diverse tastes, and the joy of dining. His commitment is to transform food into more than nourishment—it becomes a source of connection, dignity, and delight. Through his vision, he continues to set new benchmarks for luxury senior living dining across the nation.
